EVENTS of 1998
December 10, 1998 The
meeting was sponsored by Corporate Member Fried Brothers, Inc. (FBI), and
featured product presentations by Mark Ohno of Kolram Security Group.
Highlighted were the Ilco/Unican System 800 and 900 standalone card
access systems. Alexander Ebrahimzadeh, President of FBI, gave a
history of his company and presented several products, including the
Ilco/Unican 4000 all-weather access control lock and Securitron's
Unlatch for electrically unlocking cylindrical locks. He noted that FBI
in combination with several other distributors formed USCAN for
importing security products from foreign countries, and since FBI is
located in Philadelphia, orders placed one day could be delivered the

and featured a presentation by Jeffrey and John Saladucha of the
Keymark line of interchangeable core and other products.
Highlighted were the strong patent protection (until 2011) and
reputation of the Medeco name.

NYAIL members traveled to the Sargent
Lock Co. factory in New Haven, CT for a full-day factory tour,

product presentations by Arthur Lefkowitz and Richard Unice of Herlo,
Inc., and Brian Strom of Alarm Lock. Highlighted were the new
Accredited catalog, new HPC products including a drill-powered key
cutter, and Alarm Lock's Trilogy T-3 digital access control lock.

product presentations by Dave Akins of Mayflower and Bruce Lindstrom of
were the new Mayflower catalog, and the Locknetics CM series of
stand-alone access control locks, which feature keypad, touch-key and
mag-stripe access, available in mortise and cylindrical styles. Also
mentioned were IEI and HES electric strikes and the Securitron's

their L series grade 1 mortise lock, which features easy hand-reversing

grade 2 cylindrical locksets, and their Primus® high security

meeting was sponsored by Corporate Member Abloy Construction
Locking, and featured a product presentation by National Sales
Manager Satu Röppänen and Lance Berger of the Abloy Disklock
Pro series of high security locking devices. Because the products use
disks, and are of a unique design, their products are essentially pick
proof, and all can be masterkeyed and keyed alike, whether mortise/rim
cylinder, switch lock, cabinet lock, padlock or mogul (prison)

- April 9, 1998 The
meeting was sponsored by Corporate Member Securitech, and featured
a product presentation by President Mark Berger of their extremely
vandal-resistant lock line. Their "problem solvers" provide secure
fire exits without violating life safety laws, and their
Securiguard conceals lock cylinders to prevent "crazy-glue" and allow
access control. He also gave an extensive status report on
proposed code changes regarding electric locking devices.
- March 28,
1998. Members rode the customized Medeco bus to the Master Locksmiths Association of New
Jersey Convention at the New Jersey Exposition Center in Somerset. This was a full-day trip; lots of locks and locksmith
tools and supplies to see, and the exhibitors welcomed us. The trip was
enjoyed by all, and NYAIL. extends many thanks to Medeco for their

Bellevue. Members were shown the virtues of the three models, and
everyone loved the 9700A (which cuts all kinds of keys - even Medeco
Biaxial - unattended, just the reverse of 'hands-on').

and district anagers Bruce Lindstrom and Bob Hardy featured their 6000
series of SmartExit devices, their CM Series of electromechanical locks
with programmable access control, and their PRO series of electronic

Bob Zbilowski featured their product line of grade 1 mortise and
cylindrical locksets, which have a lifetime warranty.
They also manufacture custom locks, such as those designed for the NYC
school system and Chicago Housing Authority.
